I live near Bude, which is on the north coast of Cornwall, a truly glorious part of the UK and very popular holiday destination. Families, couples, solo travellers and in particular Surfers are drawn to this region.

The climate is milder than the rest of the UK and we have a spectacular coastline with fabulous beaches and many artists, craftspeople and artisans are happily living and working in this part of the world. It seems to bring out creativity in many forms!

In 2001 we relocated from West Sussex to North Cornwall and ran a village Tearoom for 5 years then a large seaside Guest House for nearly 10 years. Being in the hospitality and tourism business was something I had always wanted to do and I loved every minute, however it seriously limits your ability to find time to do other things!

I started painting in watercolour after we sold the business. I have gone on to develop my own individual style exploring and finding my own creative style. I started to create greeting cards using my illustrations based on quirky and humorous characters.

My series of 'Sidney Seagull' cards in particular had a large number of admirers and collectors. They often end up framed on walls

I have rediscovered my passion for Calligraphy over the past couple of years moving away from the traditional to Modern Calligraphy which I find exciting, versatile and a joy to write. Towards the end of 2019 I held my first Beginners' Workshop and have inspired others to pick up a pointed nib pen and start writing too! A second one was planned for Spring 2020 but then the world was hit by the Corona Virus pandemic. During the Lockdowns I discovered acrylic paints which I have never used before and I love the vibrancy and depth of the colour compared to the delicate transparency of watercolour.

In the summer of 2020 I moved on from just using my phone to take images which caught my attention to using a 'proper camera' and have really enjoyed developing my photography. Like many others I have spent the past year appreciating the simpler pleasures in life and re-assessing how I will spend my time in the future now we are on the path back to freedom.
